Hammerfest is a large, varied trail network in Errington by Englishman River Falls Provincial Park. Maintained by the Arrowsmith Cycling Club and home to a number of races every year, Hammerfest has everything from green trails suitable for the whole family to blue flow trails and double black diamonds. Access Hammerfest either from the Englishman River Falls Provincial Park main parking lot or from the yellow gate just before the park entry. Much if not all of the system is on Mosaic Forest Management lands so be sure to check Hammerfest on Trailforks for notices and closures.
Make your way to the Parksville Wetlands Trail to enjoy a smooth ride and practice tight turns. Known to be a great place to view migratory birds, bring a camera and snap some photos after your ride.
The beginner-friendly trails at Rathtrevor Beach Provincial Park offer riders stunning views of the shore.
The Upper Laburnum Woods features a series of twisting gravel paths and forested trails, ideal for an exhilarating outing.
Other local favourites include the Little Mountain Trail system, Northwest Bay trails, Bowser trails, Lighthouse Loop, the Nile Creek Trails, Cook Creek Trails, and the Pheasant Glen Trails.

The Coombs to Parksville Rail Trail offers 7 kilometres of paved, wide paths for beginner bikers to enjoy.

The design of the Lighthouse Country Regional Trail lends itself to be a beginner friendly trail. There is a 750 meter section of twisting singletrack that is a favorite among local mountain bikers.
The 13-kilometre Parksville Qualicum Beach Links is a low-traffic, scenic road perfect for biking between Qualicum Beach and Parksville.
