Children, seniors, naturalists, and birdwatchers have long enjoyed Hamilton Marsh. It is the largest water bird brood marsh on this part of Vancouver Island and it's the largest body of water in the French Creek Watershed. The woods surrounding it are also home to many red and blue listed species.
In addition to the over 130 species of birds recorded at Hamilton Marsh, it also has resident Cutthroat, Coho Salmon, and Three Spine Stickleback. Amphibians include Red-legged Frogs, Tree Frogs, Salamanders - Longtoe, Clouded, Northwest Redback, and others (source for fish & amphibians: David Clough, Biologist).
Hamilton Marsh has also been identified as an exceptional dragonfly habitat. Area residents and various organizations are working with the owner to ensure its future and have it converted to park land.
