Knox Presents: The Clay Pigeons

The Clay Pigeons are a 5 member acoustic band who have been playing sold out concerts for delighted audiences on Vancouver Island since their first show at Hermann’s Jazz club in Victoria on April of 2017. The band was originally formed by Victoria musicians Aaron Watson (guitar and vocal), Rachelle Reath (fiddle, guitar and vocal) and Kelly Fawcett (guitar, dobro and vocal) to pay homage to some of the finest songwriters of the modern Americana genre, and currently have an extensive repertoire of songs by master songwriters such as John Prine, Townes Van Zandt, Blaze Foley, Guy Clark, Iris Dement, Lyle Lovett, to name a few. Rounding out the sound are Gabriola Island based Brad Shipley on mandolin and vocals and Victoria BC’s master of the stand up bass, Joey Smith.

The arrangements are their own, featuring beautiful lush interplay between the fiddle and mandolin, with the members taking turns on lead vocals and supporting each other with big 4 part vocal harmonies. Add in the bands on stage rapport and relaxed humour, this is definitely a heart warming and emotionally charged show that you will not want to miss!
